The Idea
The core of the idea is to meld the fields of EEE and Web3 together in this application where the prosumers belonging to a smart grid can “trade” their power with each other, using a blockchain marketplace. I took up this project under an EEE faculty who has been working on the hardware implementation of the same.
The Stack
I’m planning on building the blockchain logic using the Aptos blockchain. Why? Because its quick, the documentation is easy to process and I’ve already made some considerable progress learning Move.
As for the frontend, I plan to build it using Next.js, for no particular reason whatsoever, apart from a mild inclination to make this application future proof. Using a bundler like Vite didn’t really seem future-proof to me.
Intended Functionality (for the MVP)
Users should be able to
- Buy energy from producers through their listings
- Sell energy to consumers by being able to make their own listings
